I know what you’re thinking, so you have to hear me out: running IS for everyone. Throw out distance, time, pace, etc. and insert INTENTION and DESIRE. These two words will help you start anything in life that you choose. Today, I choose to talk about running, and how incorporating the desire and intention to run, will lead you places you never though you could reach the surface of.
Learn from a Leader
I am more privileged to speak on this subject, as I have not had to overcome nearly as many obstacles as others, when it boils down to the world of running. Take David Goggins for example. Goggins is a former Navy SEAL, an ultramarathon runner, and a lifelong contributor to the core values of discipline and hard work. At one point in his journey, he was required to lose 100+ pounds, in order to join the Navy. Goggins did so within the span of three months, and largely credits running for this impressive feat. He has also used running to raise charity, and overcome mental bouts suffered through tragedies experienced.
What can we take away?
Life throws and will continue to throw ANYTHING and EVERYTHING at you. You must be willing to respond with strength, mentally and physically, in order to thrive in this world. I explained that any action starts with intention and desire, and used the world of running to help elaborate more. I recommend going for a short run, seeing where you are at a base fitness level, and focusing on consistency and improvement. You read that David Goggins, a former SEAL, weighed almost three hundred pounds, before implementing intention and desire to lose weight and join the Navy.
